Facility Rental

By host­ing an event at the PMA, you treat your guests to a dis­tinct envi­ron­ment, rich with fine art and icon­ic archi­tec­ture, while sup­port­ing the muse­um’s efforts to offer world-class exhi­bi­tions and edu­ca­tion­al pro­grams to the Maine com­mu­ni­ty and beyond.

Host an annual meeting, cocktail reception, teambuilding retreat, or other event at the PMA!

We offer the abil­i­ty to rent muse­um facil­i­ties for pri­vate func­tions exclu­sive­ly to our Director’s Cir­cle mem­bers and Busi­ness Mem­bers. Our spaces, from the extra­or­di­nary Sel­ma Wolf Black Great Hall to the state­ly McLel­lan House, will pro­vide an ele­gant set­ting for your func­tion, par­ty, or event. PMA Busi­ness Mem­bers start­ing at the $1,500 receive dis­counts on facil­i­ty rentals.

Sel­ma Wolf Black Great Hall

Ide­al for: recep­tions and din­ners with a max­i­mum capac­i­ty of 175 guests for a stand­ing recep­tion or 130 for dinner.

Rate: $3,000 (Non-prof­it: $2,000) per four-hour block, plus per­son­nel fees

Low­er Ground Floor

Ide­al for: recep­tions and din­ners, and can be rent­ed in con­junc­tion with the Bernard Osh­er Audi­to­ri­um. Capac­i­ty 180 guests for a stand­ing reception.

Rate: $2,000 (Non-prof­it: $1,500) per four-hour block, plus per­son­nel fees

Bernard Osh­er Foun­da­tion Auditorium

Ide­al for: busi­ness meet­ings, mul­ti­me­dia pre­sen­ta­tions, film screen­ings, sem­i­nars, lec­tures, and more. Please note that while access to the audi­to­ri­um is bar­ri­er-free, the audi­to­ri­um stage can only be accessed by stairs.

Rate: $1,500 (Non-prof­it: $1,200) per four-hour block, plus per­son­nel fees

Cheryl R. And Joseph F. Bou­los Din­ing Room in the Mclel­lan House

Ide­al for: seat­ed din­ners of 16 or few­er peo­ple, and cock­tail recep­tions of 30 or few­er guests.

Board­room

Ide­al for: Ide­al for meet­ings, work­shops, and retreats. Capac­i­ty 30.

David E. Shaw and Fam­i­ly Sculp­ture Park

Ide­al for: recep­tions among the PMA’s out­door sculp­tures! Capac­i­ty 300, and only avail­able dur­ing sum­mer months.

Rate: $3,000 per four-hour block, plus per­son­nel fees

At the PMA’s David E. Shaw and Fam­i­ly Sculp­ture Park, you can enjoy an inti­mate wed­ding cer­e­mo­ny out­doors in the coastal air, among exquis­ite works of art and archi­tec­tural­ly sig­nif­i­cant build­ings. Locat­ed in the heart of Port­land, the David E. Shaw and Fam­i­ly Sculp­ture Park is ful­ly acces­si­ble and sur­round­ed by the best of Maine cul­ture. We can accom­mo­date 20 guests, includ­ing the cou­ple, offi­ciant, and pho­tog­ra­ph­er, for a qui­et cer­e­mo­ny cen­tered around your clos­est loved ones. Site vis­its are by appoint­ment only.

PMA’s Spe­cial Events Depart­ment will work with you to plan your cer­e­mo­ny. Cer­e­monies must take place dur­ing dai­ly hours of oper­a­tion, 10 a.m. until 30 min­utes past sun­set. An addi­tion­al $250 fee is required for book­ings over hol­i­days and hol­i­day week­ends. We regret that we are unable to accom­mo­date wed­ding recep­tions. Event rental reser­va­tions are rain or shine. Fees will not be refund­ed due to inclement weather.
